About Us

The story of the Feriye 'Karakol' or Police Station commences in the second half of the 19th century with the removal of the Ottoman Sultans from Topkapı Palace in the Old City to the magnificent palaces they had built along the Bosphorus. As the last in a string of such buildings extending from Beşiktaş to Ortaköy and including the Dolmabahçe and Çırağan Palaces, the Feriye Karakol is a fascinating example of Ottoman architecture of the period. Following a restoration in 1995 by the Kabataş Educational Foundation, today, as Feriye Restaurant, it is a point of intersection of past and future at an exceptional spot on the Bosphorus.
